New England Voices in Harmony returned from Harmony Inc.’s recent Area 2 Convention and Contests in Framingham, Mass., winning first place in a field of choruses from all of New England and Quebec. Additionally, one of the chorus quartets, Intonations, won the first-place blue ribbon.
The chorus of 40 women from NH and Massachusetts won singing two songs: “Feeling Good” from the Broadway show “The Roar of the Greasepaint” and “Ripple” from the film “Spirited.”
Intonations features chorus members Katrine Dickau from Hollis (tenor) and Deanna Dean from Bedford (bass). The quartet sang “How Lucky You Are” and “When Day Is Done.” Rounding out the quartet are Harmony Inc. members Maria Gabriella (lead) and Nanda Landers (baritone), who both co-direct another Harmony Inc. chapter in Northborough, Mass.
Additionally, another Voices quartet, High Gear, came in second place and has also garnered enough points to compete at the international level. The quartet includes Christina Tramack (lead) and Jen Selby (baritone), both of Nashua, Deb Green of Merrimack (bass), and Ari Schmidt (tenor) of Billerica, Mass.
New England Voices in Harmony is directed by Renée Tramack of Nashua who has been singing, directing, and coaching with Harmony Inc. for multiple years. She directed several other choruses in New England and Virginia before her move to Nashua. Renée sings bass in Harmony Inc.’s gold medal-winning international quartets, Showcase and Taken 4 Granite. As director of the first-place chorus, she won the Guiding Hands Award.
