A cappella group reaps rewards
The Nashua-based New England Voices in Harmony recently returned from the 48th
annual Harmony Inc. International Convention and Contest in London, Ontario,
with several medals.
• New England Voices in Harmony is a female, a cappella singing group with
members from Massachusetts, as well as New Hampshire. The group won the bronze
medal, making its current ranking third in the world out of the 24 choruses.
Directors of the chorus are Debbie Borsari, of Peterborough, and Renee Tramack,
of Nashua. The chorus sang two songs. The ballad was "Daddy, I'm Saying
Goodbye," and the uptune was "Honey's Loving Arms."
Additionally, three quartets from the group earned enough points to compete on
the international stage in the quartet contests. Showcase placed second with
Kathleen Macdonald, of Nashua, singing lead, Katrine Dickau, of Hollis, as
tenor, Borsari as baritone and Tramack as bass. The group won the silver
medal.
Ringtones, with Samantha Swanson, of Nashua, as tenor and Julia Borsari, of
Peterborough, as baritone, plus Jennifer Wheaton as lead and Lindsay Chartier
as bass, both of Montreal, Quebec, won bronze in the quartet contest.
Carry On, a quartet of Massachusetts women from Gardner, Barre and Arlington,
won the Findlay Plaque as the best novice quartet. Carey Fagerstrom sang lead;
her mother, Diane Fagerstrom, as tenor; Amanda Holloway as bass and Nanda
Landers sang baritone.
The 2004 Champion quartet of Harmony Inc., Synchronicity, also are members of
New England Voices. This year, the foursome won the Image of Harmony Service
Award, citing the group's efforts to teach, as well as entertain, as well as
its many charitable performances in nursing homes and assisted-living
facilities. The quartet recently returned from Nova Scotia, where the women
taught classes and then headlined in a concert that night. Synchronicity is
Macdonald singing lead, Borsari singing baritone, Jeanne Swanson as bass and
Liane Iannuzzo, tenor. Swanson and Iannuzzo are both from Nashua.
New England Voices is preparing for the holiday performance season. Rehearsals
are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Covenant Church, 24 Echo Ave., Nashua.
