2009 International 4th Place Medalist Chorus
Founded in January 2000, New England Voices in Harmony is a chapter of Harmony, Inc., an international, non-profit, educational and singing organization for women. Since officially chartering in April 2001, the chorus has competed at area and international events, hosted numerous shows, and entertained audiences at a variety of venues.
New England Voices in Harmony is currently the International 4th Place Medalist Chorus of Harmony, Inc.; plus three-time Area Champions, winner of the Area 2 Achievement and Elaine P. Peters Small Chorus Awards; two-time winner of the Rising Star and G. Ruth Geils Memorial Awards; and recipient of the LABBS Trophy. Harmony, Inc.’s purposes are: to educate its members in the art of singing four-part, unaccompanied harmony, in the barbershop style; to organize and maintain choruses and quartets; to give public and private performances; to sponsor contests; and to promote friendship among all women.
Today, New England Voices in Harmony is composed of women, all ages, from various parts of southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. The chorus is active in the community and available to perform for a variety of audiences, including businesses, community, civic or charitable organizations, church groups and social clubs.
New England Voices in Harmony is co-directed by founding members Debbie Borsari and Renée Tramack, both internationally-acclaimed, award-winning directors and Harmony Queens. Both currently sing with the 2009 International Quartet Champions, Showcase. A third-generation barbershopper, Debbie also sings with the 2004 International Quartet Champions, Synchronicity. Renée, a second-generation barbershopper, has also previously directed choruses in Vermont, Virginia, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.
New England Voices in Harmony is also proud home to several quartets: Showcase, current International Quartet Champions; Synchronicity, 2004 Harmony Queens; Ringtones!, International 2nd Place Quartet; Foreign Exchange, International 4th Place Quartet; Cloud 9, International 8th Place Quartet; Escapade, International 13th Place Quartet; Take Out; Under Construction; and Optimum Blend, a mixed quartet.
New England Voices in Harmony is always interested in expanding its membership. In keeping with the Harmony, Inc. motto, “A Blend with Friendship,” women of all ages are welcome. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 9 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, 130 Spit Brook Rd., Nashua, NH.
